{"id":3298,"date":"2018-04-10T13:27:59","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T17:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thebucketshop.ca\/a-global-expansion-and-diverse-workforce-inside-the-bucket-shop\/"},"modified":"2018-04-10T13:27:59","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T17:27:59","slug":"a-global-expansion-and-diverse-workforce-inside-the-bucket-shop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebucketshop.ca\/fr\/a-global-expansion-and-diverse-workforce-inside-the-bucket-shop\/","title":{"rendered":"A global expansion and diverse workforce: Inside The Bucket Shop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are two uncommon aspects to The Bucket Shop.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Woodward gave Timmins Chamber of Commerce members a glimpse into the business during a lunch at the Dante Club on Tuesday afternoon.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While there may be more than a couple things that make The Bucket Shop unique, his presentation mentioned two: global growth and gender diversity in the workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Woodward shared a map of the world to show where his company has done business, planting virtual buckets on the maps of South America, Asia, Africa and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Chamber president Jamie Clarke said it\u2019s not a common thing for Timmins businesses to expand globally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one thing we all love to see,\u201d said Clarke. \u201cThey\u2019ve taken this to a different level, and we promote it in whichever way we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Woodward is hoping to continue that expansion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mining community is such a small community,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s such a good thing for us, who are looking to go global.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe major mining leaders who are out there, managing different properties, they tend to bounce around from one place to another and if you\u2019ve done well by them, they tend to bring you into their new places of business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Bucket Shop\u2019s other unique feature happened naturally \u2013 the workforce there is almost equally split between men and women.<\/p>\n<p>Woodward said he thinks this is relatively uncommon, but it\u2019s growing in popularity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSociety is changing. I don\u2019t believe there\u2019s an all-male environment that exists anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said he\u2019s proud of the women on his staff. The vice president of The Bucket Shop said labour is one of the challenges he faces in Timmins, including learning how to incorporate workers from the millennial generation into his organization.<\/p>\n<p>Woodward said he promotes family values at work, though it\u2019s more of a challenge these days now that the staff has grown to 140.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith spending more time with your work family than you do your real family, there needs to be a positive experience when you come to work. People need to look forward to coming to work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That means outings and activities like paintball, and integrating employees\u2019 families into the organization.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, Woodward said he is happy to do business in this city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTimmins is a great place. I really believe in our city, more than anything else.
